Throughout the years Michel de Montaigne University has developed, thanks to several eminent figures and to dynamic teams to become what it is today: an intellectual centre that has attracted numerous researchers.

The University fosters its essential values of freedom and independence of thought as guarantees of an unceasing quest for creativity. A laboratory for ideas and a forum for intellectual encounter, University Michel de Montaigne aims to contribute to the scientific debates of the day as well as opening up new perspectives in those fields where the University excels.

Bordeaux University Press plays an important part in spreading the results of Bordeaux researchers to a wider audience.

The growing number of scientific activities

Since the 90s, the growth in the number of scientific activities organised at the University by all the research centres has been very significant, increasing by 60%.

Each year, the University now hosts an average of twenty national and international conferences and around fifty day study groups and research seminars.
